American Board of Orthodontics
When the orthodontist removes your braces, we will begin the retention stage of treatment. During this phase, your teeth and surrounding tissues will settle into their new positions in a controlled manner. Because children continue to grow, their facial structures may also change, so we use retainers to keep the teeth in alignment during this growth period. For our adult patients, a retainer will maintain the adjustments made during your orthodontic treatment.
Your final orthodontic results depend on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. The retention phase lasts for a minimum of 12 to 18 months. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, safely store your retainer when you take it out, and to brush the appliance before placing it back in your mouth.
Call our Colorado Springs office today and schedule your orthodontic consultation with Dr. Gaworski to discuss successful retention. Patients from Northeast Colorado Springs, Monument, Falcon, Peyton, and the surrounding areas visit our conveniently located orthodontist’s office.
